  5. MacAstro 1.5  is  a  program for  astronomy lovers  to  calculate  the
  6. appearance of the  sky  at   any    time  and  any  point on earth. It
  7. displays the position of the 8 major planets, the Sun, the  Moon,  and
  8. 2500 brightest astronomical objects (stars and Messier's objects).
  9.  
  10. These are the main features of the program :
  11.  
  12. o Full Macintosh interface.
  13. o Background calculations.
  14. o Displays in  color the  position of  the objects of the Solar System 
  15.   (8  planets +  Sun +  Moon)  and displays  the position  of the 2500 
  16.   brightest  stars in  the  sky,  according  to  the  date  and  place  
  17.   of the observation.
  18. o Displays the constellations.
  19. o Displays the ephemeris of any of the 2510 objects :
  20.     - rising/setting/culmination,
  21.     - right ascension/declination,
  22.     - azimuth/altitude,
  23.     - visual magnitude and diameter,
  24.   and  allows  to  save it to a text file for the planets, the Sun and
  25.   the Moon.
  26. o Displays and exports a picture of the phase of the Moon.
  27. o Displays  and exports  a picture  of Jupiter and Saturn's satellites 
  28.   position.
  29. o Displays the sidereal time.
  30. o "Planetarium" mode : an animation refreshes regularly the appearance
  31.   of the sky (can turn in background under MultiFinder).
  32. o Editable list of most  commonly  used  places  of  observation,  and 
  33.   possibility to use the location coordinates stored in the PRAM.
  34. o Requires a  Macintosh Plus,  Classic, or larger and a system 6.0  or 
  35.   later.

  37. Difference between the versions 1.5 and 1.4 of MacAstro :

  39. o Displays the constellations,
  40. o "AutoFind," which allows you to find the information  about  a  star
  41.   just by pointing it,
  42. o Reads the location (latitude  and  longitude)  stored  in  the  PRAM
  43.   memory of the Macintosh,
  44. o Complete control of  the  size  of  the  stars  according  to  their
  45.   magnitudes,
  46. o Draws up to 2500 stars (catalog provided).

  48. Differences between the versions 1.4 and 1.3 of MacAstro :

  50. o Now displays the objects in the Solar System in color,
  51. o Exports the picture of the sky, Jupiter or Saturn's  satellites, and
  52.   the Moon phase,
  53. o "Track moves" in planetarium mode,
  54. o Better control of the background calculation,
